EN 10028

EN 10028: Part2 :2006, a European standard, has set the benchmark for weldable steels tailored for high-temperature pressure vessels. This standard has superseded older British and DIN standards. These steels are carefully made to be strong and tough, so they can handle high temperatures. They are essential in industries requiring strength and resilience. EN 10028 thus encapsulate the unparalleled performance of chrome molybdenum steels.

EN 10028 steels are a testament the the power of alloying elements. Their high chromium content promotes outstanding corrosion resistance. But high-quality chrome moly steel grades offer multifaceted benefits. The strength-to-weight ratio is commendable, ensuring robustness without unnecessary bulk. When heat treated, these alloy steels exhibit enhanced impact resistance, a trait vital in the demanding environments of the oil and gas sector. Furthermore, their electrical conductivity remains consistent even at body temperature, a testament to their versatility.

Our commitment to quality is unwavering. We proudly stock EN 10028: 2: 2006 specified chrome-moly steel, ensuring each piece is shipped with test certification and stamping. This dedication to quality is not just a promise, but a guarantee. Our clientele, which includes fabricators serving the major oil, petrochemical, and gas companies, can attest to the superiority of our offerings.

EN 10028 10CrMo910

10CrMo910 is a type of steel alloy that is specifically designed to offer enhanced heat and corrosion resistance compared to other alloys such as 16Mo3 and 13CrMo45. This alloy contains higher amounts of molybdenum and chromium, key elements in improving its performance in challenging environments.

The increased molybdenum content in 10CrMo910 provides several advantages. Molybdenum is known for its high melting point and excellent thermal conductivity, making it ideal for applications that involve high temperatures. This alloy can withstand extreme heat without losing its structural integrity, making it suitable for use in industries such as power generation, petrochemicals, and oil and gas.

Furthermore, the higher chromium content in 10CrMo910 enhances its corrosion resistance properties. Chromium forms a protective oxide layer on the surface of the alloy, preventing it from reacting with oxygen and moisture in the environment. This oxide layer acts as a barrier, shielding the alloy from corrosion and ensuring its longevity even in harsh conditions.

The increased molybdenum and chromium combination in 10CrMo910 makes it a highly reliable and durable alloy. It can withstand not only high temperatures but also corrosive substances such as acids, alkalis, and saltwater. This makes it an excellent choice for applications where both heat and corrosion resistance are crucial, such as in boilers, pressure vessels, and piping systems.

At Masteel, we supply 10CrMo910 to fabricators serving the oil and gas industry. The steel exhibits good weldability and conforms to the EN 10028 standard.

EN 10028 13CrMo45

13CrMo4-5 is a chrome molybdenum steel under the EN 10028 standard, specifically designed for high-temperature applications. It boasts a chromium content of approximately 0.70% to 1.15% and molybdenum content of 0.40% to 0.60%. This composition endows 13CrMo4-5 with commendable strength and temperature resistance, making it an ideal choice for fabricating boilers, pressure vessels, and heat exchangers.

While it shares similarities with 10CrMo9-10, another grade under the same standard, 13CrMo4-5 has a lower chromium and molybdenum content, which means it might offer slightly different mechanical properties. In choosing between the two, the specific requirements of the intended application, such as operating temperatures and pressures, should be considered.

Predominantly preferred in the oil, petrochemical, and gas sectors, 13CrMo4-5 is supplied in accordance with the EN 10028 European standard. Detailed technical specifications for 13CrMo4-5 are provided below.
