Abrasion Resistant

Masteel supply high quality wear resistant steel with superior wear performance. Combined with excellent weldability these plates stand up well in the toughest industries such mining and earth moving.

Also known as abrasion resistant steel plate, the high resistant long life plates can be cut and profiled to your exact requirements and provide an excellent return on investment where long life of the steel is at a premium. With numerous grades and thicknesses on offer, we can supply the right type of plate for the right job, whether it is for construction machinery or mining equipment.

MAS500 AR Abrasion Resistant Steel (500 Brinell)

MAS500 AR is a 500 brinell grade steel which is ideal for heavy wear applications commonly found in the mining and earth moving industry.

The material has excellent tensile strength and hardness, infact MAS500 AR has 3 times the hardness of S355 structural steel. The steel has a martensitic micro-structure and whilst heat treatment is not an option (since this would reduce the materials strength and abrasive qualities), MAS500 AR is easy to weld using conventional methods and has good formability.

The material is referred to as a 500 brinell hardness steel – the actual hardness range values for this grade relating to thickness are listed below:

Grade Product Thickness Hardness Range
MAS500 AR Cut Lengths 4.0 – 5.5 450 – 540
MAS500 AR Heavy Plates 5 – 60 450 – 540

MAS450 AR Abrasion Resistant Steel (450 Brinell)

Used throughout the mining and earthmoving industry, MAS450 AR is Masteel’s designation for abrasion resistant steel with 450 brinell hardness.

The steel is a martensitic hardenable material with excellent high strength and hardness properties making it an ideal choice for heavy wear environments. Whilst the material cannot be heat treated, it is easy to cut and weld and has good formability.

The material is referred to as a 450 brinell hardness steel – the actual hardness range values for this grade relating to thickness are listed below:

MAS300 AR Arasion Resistant Steel (300 Brinell)

MAS300 AR is Masteel’s designation for 300 brinell hardness abrasion resistant steel.

The material is a martensitic hardenable steel grade which has excellent strength and hardness characteristics making it resistant to the effects of abrasion and also increased surface pressure.

The steel has a brinell hardness range of 270-390 HBW and has good weldability using conventional welding methods. Heat treatment is not recommended as the process will reduce the hardness, strength and abrasion resistance of the material.

Typical Applications

  • Mining machinery
  • Earth moving machinery
  • Platform structures
  • Feeders, hoppers and funnels

Masteel UK Limited can supply MAS300 AR in cut lengths of between 2.5 and 80mm and we can ship to any destination worldwide from our UK steel warehouse.
