High Yield Steel

High-strength steel offers exceptional performance in extreme conditions. All structural elements are subject to loading forces. Abrasion, compression, impact, tension, and vibration can damage materials if they cannot handle the stress of their surroundings. Masteel is one of the leading high yield steel suppliers worldwide, providing alloys primed for performance in the toughest conditions.

Our high yield steels excel in areas at risk of extreme structural displacement. Heavy transporters, large steel structures, and mobile cranes are a selection of our core application bases. We also distribute marine-grade steels with the highest tensile strengths available for the offshore industry.

Our structural grade material comes with a guaranteed minimum ultimate tensile strength (UTS) of 1300 MPa. It also features optimal mechanical properties for welding and bending.

Our high tensile strength steel is now readily available on the market. It can be provided as heavy plates, fabricated sections, or sheets, and can be supplied globally from our stock. It simplifies design and reduces costs, making it particularly beneficial for steel-framed buildings. However, we recommend selecting the perfect high yield structural steel for your specific application from the list below. We assure you that our product will meet and exceed your expectations.

S700MC

S700MC – a high yield structural steel supplied under the EN10149: Part2 specification. Due to the materials high yield (700Mpa min.), it is highly resistant to plastic deformation and can be used in a variety of load-bearing applications.

People commonly use S700MC steel for cold-formed components, including cold-pressed parts and sections. Typical applications include steel frames, load-bearing beams and pipework.

S700MC offers excellent bending and folding properties, though care should be taken to ensure that the steel is the right specification for the job.

S550MC

S550MC is a high yield steel under the EN10149: Part2 specification. It is a structural hot rolled steel material with high yield strength and excellent cold forming characteristics.

S550MC can be used in numerous applications including steel framed structures, structural pipes and cold rolled sections. As the material is designed to be used in load bearing applications, care should be taken when ordering to ensure that the steel has qualities required for the job in hand.

Heat treatment of S550MC is not advisable as this will reduce the yield strength of the material.

S500MC

S500MC is a high strength hot rolled structural steel used for cold formed components. As S500MC is a load bearing steel, considerations regarding suitability need to be made at the procurement stage.

The material is used in a variety of applications including structural beams, frames and as cold rolled steel sections. The steel benefits from good weldability but heat treatment should be avoided as this is known to reduce the yield strength of the material.

S1100QL & S1300QL

S1100QL (& S1300QL) are relatively new steels on the market that can conceivably be classed as “Ultra High Yield Structural Steels” boasting a minimum tensile strength of 1100 MPa and 1300 MPa respectively.

Lighter & Stronger Steel

These new steels have only hit the market recently but are already being used and specified in the heavy lifting industry. This industry has an ongoing requirement for stronger and lighter structural sections which are used in the manufacture of crane booms. Both S1100QL & S1300QL are a perfect fit for this purpose.

The material is quenched and tempered and is relatively easy to bend and weld but its the strength and wear resistance which makes this steel a highly sort after and marketable item.

Technical specifications are available on request from our Sales Office.

S960QL

Grade 960QL is a high strength structural steel in the quenched and tempered condition which gives the material excellent strength and abrasion resistance.

S890QL is a water quenched & tempered steel which complies with the EN10025:6:2004 specification. Due to the nature of the material it is used extensively in the heavy transport, lifting and mining industry, where huge payloads and risk of material deterioration through excessive abrasion is commonplace.

Produced in accordance with EN10025:6:2004, S890QL has good bending and welding capabilities.

Please refer to the technical details below referring to S890QL.
