ASME SA537
The ASME SA537 specification covers heat treated carbon steel plates for pressure vessel applications.
This steel which is a carbon, manganese and silicon alloy, is supplied in the normalised condition for Class 1 plates and quenched and tempered for Class 2 plates. The heat treatment give this steel a higher yield and tensile strength when compared with ASME SA516 steel grades.
Masteel UK Limited specialise in the supply of a wide range of pressure vessel and boiler qulaity carbon steel plates which are supplied to fabricators serving the Oil, Gas and Petrochemical industry. ASME SA537 specification is available to you in a number of sizes and thicknesses to suit your requirements.
We ship plates from our own stockholding in the UK or directly from the mill itself to clients internationally and regardless of location. We also have profiling facilities here so we can cut your steel to the size and shape you require.
ASME SA537 Class 1
ASME SA537 Class 1 carbon steel plates are produced for use in pressurised service and are commonly used in the fabrication of industrial pressurised vessels and boilers.
Class 1 plates are provided in normalised condition and are heat treated – as a result, the material displays greater yield and tensile strength than the more standard ASTM A516 grades. Masteel UK Limited supplies ASME SA537 Class 1 plates to the world’s leading fabricators serving the Oil, Gas and Petrochemical industry. The material is used in a variety of applications including pressurised tanks and heat exchangers.
We supply ASME SA537 Class 1 plates from stock or directly from the mill and all of our plates come with their own stamping and mill certification as standard.

ASME SA537 Class 2
ASME SA537 Class 2 steel – a pressure vessel grade steel which is an alloy of carbon, manganese and silicon. The steel is used extensively in the fabrication and manufacture of pressurised tanks, boilers and heat exchangers.
Heat treated using the quenched and tempered method, the material has higher residual tensile and yield strength when compared to pressure vessel grades produced under the ASME SA516 standard. ASME SA537 Class 2 is used extensively by the oil, gas and petrochemical industry.
Masteel UK Limited supplies ASME SA537 Class 2 plates from stock or directly from the mill. As with all our steels, the material comes with its own stamping and mill certification.
